Well here's the deal: I bought a used Shiva etherport SE card back in '95 or
so. The software was ancient so I called Shiva to ask about an update. They
told me that Dayna bought their ethernet products. They were called Etherport
when Shiva made 'em. Dayna told me that they supported every type of Shiva
Etherport card except the Etherport SE (natch) and that the Etherport line
was now known as Daynaport. So later on when I got some Nubus Etherport cards,
I went to Dayna's site and got the Daynaport installer to use with 'em.

: I find this even more curious, for two reasons. One, Intel has stated in
: the press releases that "it does not expect any immediate changes to Shiva's
: product line and that Shiva will continue to provide its products for

: because of the pending deal, Intel and Shiva have entered a "quiet period"

You're making it sound like the Intel buyout of Shiva just took place. But
their buyout of Dayna was months ago.

Perhaps Intel bought both Shiva and Dayna after Shiva sold off the Etherport
line to Dayna. Regardless, Dayna's stuff is gone. It is a bit surprising that
Dayna still has a web site of their own, but there are links to Intel from it.

: Anyway, I'm just curious what your source is. I'd love to read it.

I went to www.dayna.com five minutes ago and found a release saying that
the entire Dayna line was discontinued as of June 30. I had seen this before
as I had seen people in the Mac groups complaining about some of Dayna's
new products got axed along with antiques like my Nubus Etherport cards.
They did add that Dayna products are available from Small Dog Electronics.
