RAM Drive + Wiz I
I have no experiance with PRODos, so please forgive me...
I am in the market for a RAM expansion card for my Apple //c.
(see my post in c.s.a2.marketplace). One reason I want it is
so that I can use the RAM as a RAM drive under PRODOS.
Would it be possible to copy the Wizardry I scenario disk onto the
RAM drive. I have noticed that the disk is access quite a bit during
the game (esp during combat) and I want to minimize the use of my internal
drive. I'm thinking that by putting the scenario disk on the ram drive,
I can save my floppy + speed the game up a little.
Anyway, I understand that Wiz I is not a PRODOS program and that it is
copy protected (the boot is anyway). Is my idea possible? Of course
I am assuming that when I was done playing, I would just copy the
contents of the RAM disk back onto a magnetic disk...
I remember reading somewhere that someone "hacked" Infocom games to
keep them from constantly reading the disk. (or did this person
write there own version of DOS).
Thanks in advance,
-Chris
