another option would be to format it the way you want it, then
envelope it with "<PRE>" and "</PRE>" :

<pre>
 This is my text, already formated the way
          I like it.
             so THERE!

xyzzy forever...
</pre>

the "pre" refers to PREformatted text...  :)
