Note that some 8-bit software will recognise that it is running on the
IIgs and will therefore ignore a standard slot RAM card, preferring to
use native IIgs RAM. The main example of this is AppleWorks 2.0 or
later. (Earlier versions don't even know about the IIgs.)
In such cases, you will still be able to use the card as a RAM disk.
As to the question of which slot: it depends on what you are prepared to
lose. In a ROM 3 IIgs, the best option is probably slot 4, as long as
you don't mind losing the mouse in ProDOS-8 software (it will still work
under GS/OS).

The second connector provided by the cable is for connecting an Apple II
joystick to the card. (There is no mouse-to-joystick emulation.)
