I guess that is the useful distinction. I don't use Lynx for "viewing" 
the web either. I _do_ use it to get information! Though not, obviously, 
'visual' information such as informational pictures or diagrams.

Still, 
my sense is that most of the 'visual' stuff out there is, for the most
part, 'eye candy' -- non-essential, very pleasant, slightly addictive 
stuff. Certainly most of the 'fun', most of what makes it a 
'cool-info-multimedia' world. For an example, check out SPIFF

totally cool. and what makes the web fun and a big time-sucking vacuum as 
well! :)

Information is good. Lynx is good. Maybe it is the cod-liver oil of browsers!
But it beats a diet of steady cotton-candy ;-)
