Usually, you can scroll down past slow-loading graphics to get to the
infomation on the site quickly. The only time that  graphics annoy me is when I
want to get a stock quote. The little "Enter the ticker symbol" input form is
usually the LAST graphic to load - 

One other thing I failed to mention that is good about the web - the large
number of "hobbyist" pages in areas like, for example, gardening. You'd never
got that much information - not to mention thousands of photographs - from any
other resource. Some of the personal home pages are very high quality - simply
incredible.
