Just a suggestion, drop out of windows!
Go directly to DOS do not pass go, do not collect $200.
I have similar problems, like if my modem is connected to somewhere using
COM3, my COM1 port doesn't work, they all share interrupts, even though the
address of the port may be different.  To exclude all interference just run
this DOS based program in DOS.
You should also check to see if the base address that ADT is sending data
to, if I remember right there is an option to use (02E8,02F8,03E8, and 03F8)
with IRQs (3,4)...  Make sure it is picking the right ones for that port.
