Actually, that's not always true. If the II is a IIc Plus, it will use a
SuperDrive at 800k. It also runs off the IIGS drive port this way.
If you have a SuperDrive controller card, then the SuperDrive will
work as both an 800k and a 1.44MB drive on both the IIe and the
IIGS.
The Laser UDC will let a II, II+, IIe use the SuperDrive at 800k.
The ONLY Apple II model where the SuperDrive will absolutely
not work is the plain Apple IIc....
Laser computers have drive ports that can use SuperDrives at
800k...
