Steven J. Gould is a professor of biology from Yale.  Carl Sagan was
a professor of astronomy at Cornell.  Sagan was a key player in the
Viking missions to Mars and was one of those that helped design the
golden discs carrying messages from Earth and our location in the
galaxy that is on the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 deep space probes.

Belittling these two researchers as light weight indicates a
misinformed person, to say the least...and an injustice to the memory
of Sagan who passed away last year...
