It is too late to revive the A2 as a general purpose computer, as the
Tiger Learning unit has shown.

What has taken over the Commodore 64 niche are GeoBook type
devices.  Ever seen a GeoBook?  It retails for $300, is IBM XT-like
in performance (but apparently not enough XT hardware inside to
run real 8086 MS-DOS programs), and runs GeoWorks.

It is flying off the shelves.

How does its word processing and "Internet Connection" compare
to A2 software?  Well, the Internet Connection is nothing more
than a shell account provider and an SIS type interface...all text
...except that it has LESS features than something like Spectrum.
The word processor LACKS a search and replace function and a
find function.  All in one Apple IIGS with 4MB built in and AWGS
plus Spectrum Internet Suite built in...priced at $150 it will kill
the GeoBook/GeoWorks competitors and take over the void left
by the Commodore 64.

Make no mistake...the low end market once occupied by the
Commodore 64 IS still here.  Right now, it is being occupied
by GeoWorks running units like the GeoBook (which can be
found associated with the typewriter section of the office
store).
