May I ask, just what is wrong with The Gimp? I recently made a graphic
with The Gimp and sent it to a friend of mine. This friend of mine works
with his dad in the electronics field. His dad is a engineer and my
friend makes catalogs for the electronic test equipment that they make.
So my friend is well versed in PhotoShop and Quark. He was real
impressed with the image I made for him and asked how I made it. Whether
or not he could do the same thing I don't know. I log on to The Gimp
site once a week so I can get all the latest scripts and plug-ins for
it. As far as The Gimp being unstable, why that's just plain *bull*. As
a matter of fact The Gimp crashes on me a lot less than Win95 does, and
I mean *a lot less*.

There's also StarOffice 4.0 which I find to be a very useful office
suite. The amount of databases available for Linux is astounding. Just
within the last couple of weeks InterBase released InterBase 4 to Linux
users for free.

So with Win95 I can go out and spend $500.00 for MS Office and $500.00
for PhotoShop and sit there and press the reset button all day. With
Linux I get all I need for free and I hardly ever press the reset
button. I very rarely even boot up Win95 any more, just to make greeting
cards. I use my computer every day and it's ben a couple of weeks since
I've booted Win95.

I just don't see where anyone comes up with the *there are'nt any apps.
for Linux*, but of course that's what they say about the Mac (which I
plan to buy real soon) and of course it's all bunk.

whatever,
