There are several reasons why your emulated IIgs *feels* much faster
than it actually is:

- some 65c816 instructions can be emulated at amazingly high speeds. I'm
thinking of the MVN and MVP instructions for which I've written highly
optimized PPC assembly code. So Bernie is moving memory at the speed of
your PowerMac! On your 225 MHz machine this is far beyond 100 MHz in
terms of emulated CPU cycles.

- the real IIgs slows down to 1 MHz when accessing slow memory (bank
$E0,$E1), the emulated IIgs runs at full charge in these areas.

But let's not forget that we've written Bernie to bring the Apple II fun
over to the Mac platform and not to replace the real thing.
