No doubt Henrik, Andre, and the other guys at F.E.Systems who put
so much hard work into Bernie will appreciate being characterized as
'pandering to pirates and thieves'.

Have. They _have_ their own format. (Asimov and Uni-kl.de continue
to make old games, game mods, utilities, etc. available in DSK form.)
And "they" are correctly referred to as "archive site users". Calling
them "pirates and thieves" makes them sound bad. Also, it makes emulator
authors sound like promoters of piracy.

Quite a few of the files uploaded to archive sites are in .sdk and
.shk form.

The reason the files are maintained in a compressed DSK form (i.e.
dsk.gz) is that DSK is a format employed by many emulators. Another
(less used) format is nib. Both DSK and nib are legal distribution
formats.

Sound advice! The Real Thing is the way to go.

One should never trust pirates. It's lucky that we have so many
good archive sites.
