Correct. They are the only way to use 5.25" MS-DOS disks on an Apple.
The Unidisk drive is NOT for the PC Transporter. Do not hook it up to
the PCT.

According to the manuel, you can't boot from the disk drives, but you
can use them for storage under ProDOS. The disks you format with ProDOS
(in native Apple II mode, not under the PCT) will be 360K MFM disks.
This means that only another owner of a PC Transporter with 5.25"
TransDrives can use them.

I can't verify this, as I don't possess any TransDrives. My PCT has a
single SuperDrive (since my double density drive died) drive that I
switch back and forth when needed. I can tell you that you that with the
Apple (or AE regular 3.5" drive) you can access ProDOS disks, but I
sometimes get errors when doing this. The errors dissapear when I put
the drive back on it's controller card (OR the disk drive port of my
IIGS, but I can't use HD disks if it's connected to either the PCT or
the port). When I had only the DSDD drive, the same as above applied,
but I only had the port and the PCT.
