I missed this in my previous followup...

The problem is that this card came out, what, 6 years AFTER the
Mac?  That's not a transition at all...by that time, the IIGS came out
and this card could not handle IIGS software.

The transition computer should have been the ARM A2 that Jobs
vetoed. The ARM A2 "Mac" would have been just like a Mac except
having a more powerful processor and the ability to run A2 wares.
It would have unified the A2 with what became the Mac...
