Which LiveCD? I have a stock netatalk build on another machine (from when I was trying to help you with your setup). Let me give that a try.
It's semi-ironic in a sense that the foot is in the other shoe this time. I've used them on the Workstation card too, and even plugged them into Mac 512e's with a 9 pin to 8 pin adapter from various "Telephone Talk" kits of the era.
I have not yet tried either gadget with the IIe. They work properly on at least two Macs here, so I don't think it's an issue of defective hardware on the bridge itself.
