Why exactly are you waiting for a connect message from you modem?  You
should be waiting for a login prompt so that you can send you
username. Then you wait for a password prompt and send your password.
Then you wait for your ISP to send you your IP address and use "getip"
to get it.  Then you are connected.

It would be easiest to help if you captured a manual connect to your
ISP and posted it here.  Then we could give you a connect script that
should work.
