The easiest way to connect a 1541 is using the AN and SW lines from the
game port. As far is I remember, adapter cables and software for file
transfer were available in the 80s.
But you cannot boot from the game port! If you want to use the 1541 to
load dos, you'll need some firmware code to support PR#n. A printer
card has 2k ROM and a lot of input/output lines...
