i think the IEEE specs say something about a limitation on the length
of a serial cable... that might be why the errors at that length...
have you tried a shorter cable?

i prefer {Commo} by Fred Bruker. you can find it at:
ftp://ftp.ordata.com/COMMO (the latest version is in COMMO75.ZIP.
the rest of the files are macros and stuff. {Commo} is a VERY
flexible program... <g>)
