I doubt that is the case.  I'd bet my nuggets on the emulator users- there
are more (mainstream) television, newspaper, and magazine articles devoted
to emulation than there are devoted to the Apple II, and the digital retro
movement seems to be in full swing.

That's a bold, and most definitely inaccurate statement.  It's more likely
to be the case that it's user willingness to accept the fact that operating
systems, business applications, etc. are by their very nature huge, slow,
buggy, and prone to crash.  Lazy programmers- I see them developing every
day at my school...  "Why optimize my code if you can just buy a faster
computer?"
