Probably
: If I connect my Apple CD-150 drive, all is well. If I connect the Toshiba
: drive, the Finder doesn't see any drive, and DiskQuest(s) reports no disk
: is found. So I think it is strictly a hardware problem or an incorrect
: driver.
You've discovered that Apple hardware is totally plug 'n play and that non
Apple stuff is a crap shoot. Considering that single speed is good enough
for a IIgs (heck, I used my CD150 on my Quadra 700 until I got an 840av with
an internal quad speed), I'd use the 150 and leave it at that. My CD150 lives
on my IIgs nowadays.
