Re: LogicWare's Wolfenstein

Rubywand got upset and Mitch responded:

IMHO everyone should have GUPP in the first place. :) [And for those
who haven't been hanging around on Delphi or haven't been to Nathan's
homepage in awhile: GUPP 1.06 is available on his page. If this has
been mentioned in CSA2 before, I missed it, but it bears repeating.
Self-respecting GS users will want 1.06 for fixing some GSHK bugs.]

MS| I've not encountered the problem myself, but as it has been

Neither have I. Not having an accellerator, I've not had a use for
Spectrum (I'm assuming that's the "popular GS telecom utility") since
it drops characters at the 26,400 bits per second rate I go.

MS| Issue an apology for what? If anything, people should issue

I have to second Mitch's sentiment there, Rubywand. Did Wolf3D delete
someone's hard drive, damage electronic components in the GS, or cause
the system not to boot? Nope. No harm done, nothing to apologise for.
Software conflicts may exist but that's not unusual; discovered the
other day that I *cannot* complete a bootup sequence and get to the
working Finder if I have the Automenus 3.0b7 CDev activated. Just
means one Control Panel item gets turned off until I find out what
other fuctional software disagrees with it, and not that the author or
the many beta testers were deliberately being reckless. And if Wolf3D
does not work for a particular user, that means that either you need
to fix something (GUPP), or you need to do a shift-boot (fewer things
to conflict with). If problems persist, explain in detail to Sheppy
what you are coming up with and be a part of the solution. As has been
stated, the bug in question is a pre-existing condition Wolf had
nothing to do with, and aim your ire at the OS writers for it.

[disclaimer: This is not a ganging-up on you, Jeff. I personally
found your request for an apology to be rediculous and figure that any
problems you have found with Wolf3D could be reported in a more helpful
way. There are enough useless flames and flaming egos in CSA2 as is.]
