You aren't using a recent enough version of the formatter. If you get HD SC
setup 7.3.5, which comes with OS 7.5 and 7.6, you can format your disk with
ProDOS volumes and the driver will mount those volumes on Macs. The downer
is that you get a SCSI manager 4.3 savvy driver and because the IIgs thinks
that the driver partition is a disk volume since it's named APPLE_DRIVER43
instead of APPLE_DRIVER, you get a message saying that your hard disk has an
unreadable volume every time the finder comes up. I don't like that so I
formatted my 230 mb with an older version of HD SC setup and made a 30 mb
HFS volume and a 200 mb A/UX volume. Then I put the disk on my IIgs and erased
the 30 mb to ProDOS and the 200 mb to HFS. Now only the HFS volume shows
up on a Mac, which is what I want, and I get no errors.

Another important thing to remember is that HD SC setup needs patching to
work with non Apple supplied drives. The newer Drive Setup which comes with
7.6 and 8.0 needs no patching and works with every drive I've tried aside
from a 1 gig Fujitsu. Never tried it with ProDOS volumes though.
