Your solutions sound intriguing, yet they also sound expensive. This
project is something that I don't intend to spend a lot of money on,
considering that the Mac IIsi is a very slow box and doesn't really
contribute much to the network. I do like owning the Mac, since I've
wanted one for over 10 years now; but the one I could afford (for $50)
pales in comparison to today's technologies. I feel that if I need to
spend much more for the networking than I spent for the computer, I'd
be wasting money and time.

I did try the evaluation version of DAVE v2.0 on the Mac, and like the
fact that I can share resources between my Win95 computers (3 of them,
soon to be 4) and the Macintosh. That puts an extra 2GB of drive
space on the network and allows access to every user. When the
license for DAVE expires (in May), I'll very likely take the 2GB SCSI
drive and put it on one of my PCs to retain that storage space. It
would allow a LOT faster access to the storage space that way anyway.

I really appreciate everybody's help in getting this box connected to
the LAN. I'll do what I can with it. I was hoping to use the Mac as
a gateway to the network for the IIgs, but it seems a little out of
reach still. First, I've got to get the IIgs to see the Mac at all.
I have received the phone-net devices, but did not get the terminating
resistors for them yet. As soon as Alltech sends them to me, I'll be
experimenting more. Then I may try to search the second-hand market
for a dedicated bridge or some-such device.

I've been involved with networking PC's for over 10 years now and have
never felt this kind of excitement in doing it. Without the help of
all you gentle souls, I'd probably be getting nowhere and feeling
frustrated. Thanks again.
