I'm not an artist, but not all things have to great art. To tell
you the honest truth, at school my friend would get new IBM games, and
basically most of the were Pole Position with multiple scrolling
backgrounds and nifty crashes, and cars, but the damn game was Pole
Postion. I'd rather have better games, than graphics. I played a game
called MULE on my Atari 800 computer. The graphics were decent, sound was
ok, but the game kicked ass. I played it for weeks, and weeks. The
object was to colonize a planet and you bought MULEs to make certain
products and you sold them and bought them, and it was good, because if
you had 4 players playing (it would be even COOLER with modem support) it
was quite a game. I'd love to see it for the //gs. I'm sure the //gs
could do that, unless in 1979 the Atari 800 was far more advanced than the
//gs. Operation Whirlwind by Broderbund for the Atari 800 was another
good game without that great of graphics...I think graphics is an excuse.
Warlords for the 2600 was probably one of the best games ever created and
it was all blocks as big as my thumbnail. If you had a dot on the screen,
and you had to kill another dot controlled by another human being you
could entertain someone for hours. I'm willing to draw things, but I'm
no artist either, but I'd rather see something, than nothing.
Telnetable Apple //gs: lost-gonzo.com. Telnet into the IBM BBS, then it
connects to the Apple //gs BBS.
Project of mine: Deathhunt I for the BBS is all text, yet its a good
game! No graphics at all. Apple BBS's were sources of good online games.
I'm hoping to release a METAL gamepack in which some of the better games
would be in it to play off-line, and maybe even some games to be able to
be played over the modem.
