   You're a victim of Apple recycling identical connectors (and
connector icons) even though the electrical signals on the pins are
completely different. [Looks like the people doing the hardware user
interfaces fell asleep-- if they're not going to work, the cables's

for a detailed listing of what's really on that connector, versus what
other computers using the same connector do, if interested.

   The video expansion connector on a //c is NOT the same as that on a
Apple III, GS or Mac. It's not RGB coming out of that port, so even
getting a custom cable wouldn't help. You'd need a 'Video 7' Analog
box to convert the signals correctly. Alltech Electronics
(http://www.allelec.com) carries them for $39. [There's 2 types of
video 7 boxes, one for CGA monitors and one for GS RGB monitors]
