There doesn't seem to be a error code flashing feature with the
ImageWriter II.  I just checked my ImageWriter IITechnical Reference
Manual and it did not mention any codes.

It did however mention that when the printer starts up, it does a
memory check.  If there is a problem with the memory then it flashes
the LED and won't let the printer do anything.  It also mentions that
if you have a 32K memory expansion in it, you can determine if the bad
memory is in the 32K expansion by disabling it (set DIP switch SW2-4
to open) and turning the printer on again.  If it starts up okay
without the 32K then the expansion memory is bad.

You might also want to check your cover to make sure the magnet is
still attached.  I believe it is by the right side of the cover.
Without it, the printer thinks the cover is off and won't let you
print.

Try disabling or removing all optional attachments (ie. memory
expansion, AppleTalk, sheet feeder) and powering up the printer to see
if it works that way.

Just so you know, when the ImageWriter II starts up it moves the print
head to the extreme left, then returns it to the center and moves the
printer ribbon up and down to determine if it is colour or black.

Let us know how it goes and if it still doesn't work, give as much
information as you can about what it is doing.  It is easier to help
with more information.
