How true :).

What worried me most was, even with clean head at the right speed, the
drive still couldn't format a disk.  The head basically stayed forever
at where it apparently thought the track 0 would be.  The low humming
noise it made (not headbang), like a stuck motor would, wasn't too
encouraging either.

I was contemplating my next move, leaving the drive that way... then
*WHACK* *WHACK* *WHACK* sweet headbang music, and it started to
format!  Then it was business as usual: works with that disk, not with
others.  Now the misalignment is my prime suspect.

I guess it was trying *real* hard to find if there was data on the
disk or not; very good bahavior, come to think of it.  Funny how
little impatience can put you off the track :).

Cool stuff :).  I've been looking for these kind of stuff too, as the
standard FAQ appears to be for more generic audience.  Thanks again!
