You could get CrossWorks, by Sequential Systems at their web
site (http://www.sequential.com/).  It automates pumping data
through the two computers and is faster than zmodem (well,
unless you are null-modeming with Proterm and Spectrum,
which can set the port speed at 57600 in which case null
modem would be faster because CrossWorks uses control-panel
firmware).
