AppleWorks GS is not a very good program for high speed comm.
It will drop characters and its xmodem is slow compared to the
zmodem of others.

I think the difference is that I have Spectrum and Proterm and use
their high speed 38600 drivers and the zmodem protocol. Also, make
sure that your serial cable is "hardware handshaking" for certain
protocols like zmodem to work properly. With the correct cable
and software with high speed port drivers, your GS too can comm
at high speeds.
