We sent a character equivalent of the floor no. as I was told that that
was signal needed by the device. We tried to solve the problem by
changing the range of the signal, avoiding the lower 31 ASCII codes which
have command functions. Now we are hanging when we try to transmit the
signal to the device. If I remember correctly, our code in that routine
is:
2000 PRINT D$;"PR#";STR$(S%);
2010 PRINT CHR$(UP%);
2020 PRINT D$;"PR#0"
The diagnostic message tells us our problem is in line 2020.
We used S% in order to accept integer values only for the slot, and we
tested the range (i.e., slots 1 to 7). The variable UP% represents the
floor no. with a displacement of 48. The displacement had originally been
128 when we encountered the CHR$(4) problem. Once it occurred we were
aware that it happened because CHR$(4) was ctl-D, or end of transmission.
Thank you for your remarks. I will forward them to Neil for his reaction.
Thank you
