Test logs (Re: Technical Question)

(Original subject: Re: Technical Question)
I retrieved the Apple IIe from where it was put away two years ago and
made it go through a series of tests.
Here are the results:

First test - first booting - Extensions present: Parallel card, mouse
interface, disk controller, Ram extension.
Weird characters appear all over the screen. The self test
(Ctrl+Solid Apple+Reset) reports "RNL 8".

Second test - warm boot with Ctrl-Empty Apple-Reset - Extensions
present: Same as above.
The boot logo looks like this: "! !! Apple !"
The self test returns a line of inverted "" characters, some blank
lines, then four lines of inverted
"A" characters. A "!" appears somewhere in the sceen.

Third test - removed mouse interface and disk controller
Boot logo looks like this: "ppld Z"
    Self test: same as above

Fourth test:
    Removed Parallel interface
    No boot logo.
    Test: same as above.

Fifth test:
    Removed memory expansion
The machine beeps like mad and shows an "hex" prompt ( "*FC0C - A=00
Y=03 Y=03 P=...")
which values are modified at each beep.
The self test reports the same inverted lines of "" as above but
also says "RAM: !!"
If I put back the memory expansion card, all becomes as the fourth
test.

Sixth test:
Installed everything except the disk controllers.
The machine freezes at the "!! ! Apple !" logo.

So here is everything. I suspect the mother board ram to be fried... but
I'm not sure...

Read ya,
Gerard.
