There is a program called "Super Data Path" that allows you to set up 
which folder Appleworks will go to when you choose "open" from the file menu.
Saving a file will also go to the same place where it was opened from.
Then as long as your Dad doesnt use the "Save as" function he should be OK.
Help is universal on most Apple programs as OA-? or command-?
Also as far as saving goes, you could write-protect the areas that you 
dont want him to go and then unlock them when you are using the computer.
Thats about all I can think of.
