    Any terminal software will do, on the PC side I often use either
HyperTerminal, Procomm Plus or Terminate. On the Apple side I mostly
use ProTERM, although Spectrum is essential if your moving data to
or from HFS partitions. 

    Just make sure the setting on both ends match (i.e. 8 bits, no
parity and 1 stop bit, and most importantly, the baud rate). Using
an Apple IIgs will allow you to set both sides to 57600 bps. Then
just send files using Zmodem.
