I thought it was pretty weird too, until I checked it on my machine.
It turns out that most document icons have the top right corner dog
eared but CDEVs, CDAs, NDAs, fonts and tools all have the top left
corner dog eared.
The reason my and Tilghman Lesher's Tool035 is dog eared opposite the
others is due to Finder having left dog ears for tool icons in its
resource fork while the SynthLab icon file in the */Icons folder has a
colour icon for Tool035 that has the right dog ear.
You must have an icon file on your system that is overriding the
Finder's resource icons for tools with a right dog eared one.
By the way, this is under System 6.01.
