Hmmm... Some of the titles he was talking about might have been
packages custom-designed for that particular entity, a common
alternative to outright purchasing off-the-shelf packages.

I can cite one example at least. I bought for about $1.50 an original
Atarisoft Battlezone for the PC. It was on a 5.25" disk and was
supposed to be self-booting. There is no directory to be found on the
disk and I have not found a way yet to either copy it to the hard
drive or to the 3.5" drive or to set up my system to boot from drive b:
I tried changing the CMOS to make drive a: a 5.25" drive and to boot
from drive a:, but everytime a: is accessed, it tries the 3.5"
thinking it is the 5.25".
There are other 5.25" format things that fall into this problem too,
such as F-15 Strike Eagle and any others that use copy protection.
Probably the best solution is to go ahead and spend $10 or less on an
old XT with 5.25" drives just to play these old games.
