Imagewriter Problem

   I have had a problem with the Imagewriter II when connected to a IIGS. In
Appleworks 3.0, it will suddenly slam to the left or right, full travel,
and buzz
there for a second or two, trying to print. After this, all subsequent lines it 
prints are shifted. I have tried everything I can think of to fix it, but
it never
goes away completely. I tried a different cable, different printers, different
number of characters per line in the IIGS control panel, with a 32k buffer
installed,
without, and printing letter quality, or draft. It seems to come and go at
will. CAn
anyone help?
