As obnoxious as it is to respond to your own post, I figured out the 
problem and I wanted to pass it on if anyone else comes against this problem.

Thunderscan's software requires 2 things:  One it's P8 and can only be 
run from or have it's data files on a disk or on the first 2 hard drive 
partitions.  Two, it requires that both itself and the data files or data 
storage device be online at the same time (disk swapping is out, use two 
drives).
