The platinum IIe sold from January 1987 until November 1993, though
I really have no idea how many were produced altogether (I still wish I
could find one, I have four IIe's but they're all the original biege :/).
In contrast, the original biege IIe sold from January 1983 until
December 1986, but despite that, make up a far greater number than the
platinum IIe's out there. Obviously because they were manufactured
during the peak years of the Apple II sales and popularity (the II
market was virtually non-existence in the 90's and started to dwindle
by the very late 80's).
