Knowing full well I'm going to get reamed hard for this BUT...

1) Software piracy has been around since computers started & software 
companies ARE still in business.

2) If you REALLY want to know why the Apple II has a dead commercial life 
let me tell you to look at four things:
  a) The comp.sys.apple2.marketplace :  How many apples up for sale?
  b) A Computer Shopper magazine : Find one piece of anything at all 
        related in any way to the apple 2, hardware, software or wetware.
  c) How many of us are really out here that are using an a2 for more 
        than a doorstop?
  d) THE friggin WALL STREET JOURNAL and apple computer stock!!!!!!

  If you still don't get it the a2 is dead.  Apple, Inc is only on life 
support from money from MICROSOFT who is either itching to pull the 
plug or planing on turning the Mac into a Windows '95 running hunk of 
junk.  We live in denial because we love them and the alternatives suck.  
The couple remaining companies are going to soon get the idea that there's 
not enough of us to support them and they'll move on or disappear.  
  IF it is true that software still available IS being pirated KNOWINGLY the 
person to blame is the one who downloads it instead of buying it.  If 
they're going to do it they will weather it's at the OZ site or from their 
next door neighbor; they are NOT going to pay.
  I'd personally rather see great works of Apple authors glorified and 
living on by piracy long after the copyright owning company's life span than 
losing them forever to whatever closet/trash bin some no-longer-apple-user 
has tossed them into.

Off my soap box now and ducking behind it...
