Well if it is similar in function to ComputerEyes GS (was there a
IIe specific card?) the three RCA connectors will be marked "C", "M"
and "V". What these marking stand for are 'Computer', 'Monitor' and
'Video'.
'V' is used for video-input, plug the source you want to capture
into this connector (VCR, TV, camcorder, etc). As for the other two
connectors, they are only usable if you have a composite monitor on
your system or a spare nearby (a TV is also usable if you have RCA
inputs). If you do, hook the 'C' connector into the back of your
computer (the video-out port) and the 'M' connector to a composite
monitor. After doing this, you'll be able to view the video source
your about to capture by select an option from the capture software
(and then switch back to the regular screen). This is handy if your
capturing off a VCR with only one output, or a camcorder and don't
want to squint through the eye-piece.
>2) Where can I get software for Computer Eyes IIe, and IIgs?
You can contact Digital Vision (1-800-346-0090) about ordering
the software, but when I called them several years back they were
no longer supporting the Apple II versions of their digitizers. At
this point it would be difficult getting the software, but you can
try at least. I vagely recall Roger Wagner Publishing took over
support of the ComputerEyes IIe and IIGS card, so if Digital Vision
refuses to help try contacting RWP.
The latest (and final) version of the IIGS software is 3.20.
It is a desktop GS/OS application, unlike version 1.x and 2.x
that used a text based menu system similar to AppleWorks. All
versions support digitizing in IIe video modes, so there is a
chance you _might_ be able to use the text-based version on an
Apple IIe (again, I'm unfamiliar with ComputerEyes IIe, and if
it was any different than the ComputerEyes GS board. Anyone out
there know?).
