Actually the screen colors do look superior on the AppleColor RGB
compared with many SVGA display currently out there, or at least those
manufactured between 1986 and 1988. They all use Mitsubishi CRTs, but
I found the newer ones (those with a manufacturing date of 1989 and up)
have a much lesser picture and color quality.
I think it is due to the extremely black screen matrix, turn off
the screen and you'll notice it is a pure black (the newer ones have
a dark grey appearence). This gives a nice contrast between colors
and overall color quality. I would say it rivals the color quality of
Trinitron RGB monitors, or at least comes very close to it. Actually
that is why I've been considering a Trinitron monitor for my PC,
though I'm not sure I like the trade offs (grainy picture, ghosting
from support line, convergence problems and other distortions from
using a pin-stripe over the usual dot-mask).

That only applies in MCGA mode, 320x200. It is moot these days
when most PC games and applications work in the 640x480 or 800x600
mode where pixels appear round.
