Anyone remember Checkmate cards?
I just recently bought my second Apple IIGS. It came with a First
Class Sider II hard drive, a half-full GS Ram Plus memory card, and a
Checkmate ramsaver(?) card. It's the Checkmate card I want to ask
everyone about.
This card plugs into the Memory Expansion slot. It has slots for two
memory boards, and one is empty; it also has a power socket in the
backplane (I didn't get a power plug for the socket with the system).
I tried putting the Apple IIGS 1Meg board from my other system into
the open socket, but the system wouldn't recognize the extra memory.
There are a pair of jumpers on the card; I tried all of the
combinations, but I still couldn't get it to accept the extra memory.
Does anyone out there know how to convince the Checkmate
whatchamacallit to accept a second ram card? And can anyone tell me
the voltage I need to send into the back to keep the Ram alive without
frying the card?
I'd love to talk Apple IIGS with anyone interested in E-mailing me,
and I'm looking for a cheap Transwarp or Zip accelerator...
