Switching chips ...

There are two Apple ][ computers, one is a //e and the second is a
//c.  The //e works perfectly while the //c displays garbage on the
screen.

Now my questions are:
  - How safe is it to replace the 6502 in the //e with the //c's
    65c02?  (The //e is my favorite. :-)
  - Would it be possible to place the //e's video BIOS into the //c?
    (The //c has the serial port.  :-(
