Visicalc, Appleworks, and
CF>I have a Macintosh Performa 550 with a IIe card inside of it. My Dad has
CF>used a IIe since roughly 1979, and has LOTS of files that he needs still.
CF>Many of these files are on Visicalc. (Yes, the ORIGINAL visicalc,
CF>copyrighted 1979.)
CF>
CF>I can convert appleworks files to Macintosh real easy, but I can't for the
CF>life of me figure out how to get VisiCalc files to AppleWorks. There is a
CF>way, because in AppleWorks' Manual, it says that you have to use the
CF>ProDOS User's Disk to copy your VisiCalc Files to a ProDOS disk, and open
CF>them in AppleWorks.
CF>
CF>There is the problem.
CF>
CF>The ProDOS User's Disk will not read the VisiCalc Save Disks because this
CF>version is too old or something. After all, it is still using the 13
CF>SECTOR format!
CF>
CF>Is there any way to do this? I would like to use my expansion slot for a
CF>accelerator, rather than the clunky IIe card. PLEASE HELP!!
1) You will need a copy of the the 'DOS 3.3 System Master' diskette. The
System Mastem includes a program called MUFFIN which will copy files from
a 13-sector to a 16-sector diskette.
2) You would then boot the 'ProDOS User's Disk' and convert the files to a
ProDOS diskette.
3) Finally, crank up AppleWorks and read in the Visicalc files.
