After seeing many posts on BeDevTalk about people's dissatisfaction with
Apple's "business" procedures, and relations with users and developers,
I've decided to create a web page to send a strong message to Apple about
what everyone else thinks of this. The page is called "Wake Up Apple!",
and the URL is:
<http://www.cam.org/~dessart/WakeUpApple/>
Now why am I writing this, spamming everyone's mail boxes? Not because I'm
evil and want to sell you something, but because I want everyone's voice to
appear on the "Wake Up Apple!" pages, so that the opinions expressed
therein are not solely my own or that of my acquaintances and friends. I
invite you all to see what I have so far, offer suggestions, and send your
ideas on what Apple should be doing, and what you'd like to see them do.
Many of your opinions will be posted up, categorized into the following
categories:
MacOS:
MacOS user
MacOS developer
MacOS development house
BeOS:
BeOS user
BeOS developer
BeOS development house
Other (includes linux, mklinux, and MS-OS people too):
Other user
Other developer
Other development houses
When you send an opinion, please include what category you fit into. That
way I can easily put the page together, and it'll be all nicely divvied up,
so if Apple decides to take a peek, they can see who's saying what.
I'll also be including articles from "Wake Up Apple!" readers, depending on
content, as well as starting a "Wake Up Apple!" program, where an icon will
be available for your web page. All those who display the icon will be
listed on the page. Note: This isn't ready yet, I haven't got an icon.
Submissions, however, will be considered, and who knows, I might make a
contest out of it!
So, please visit the site, make suggestions, send me your opinions, and
please, if you can, forward this letter to friends, colleagues and mailing
lists so they can help out too!
