I had a similar experience with my thunderclock. I got a thunderclock
back in the mid-80's, used it for a year or two, and then happened to
pick up a timemaster pro and so I put the thunderclock in it's box and
set it aside. Many years later (mid 90's or so) I had some reason to
put the thunderclock in one or another of my II's. When I checked the
time it was within 5 minutes of correct. (Of course, it said the year
was 1988 or something like that but the time was correct.)
