Increasing print quality

I have been approached by a user group member who wishes to improve
the printed output from Pyware's MusicWriter program. He's currently
using an Imagewriter II printer and finds the output less than clear.

I suggested a new HP DeskJet printer, but I'm unsure of which drivers
to recommend. Which driver package currently gives the best use of
printer features, gives the clearest output, and is still supported.... ???
(i guess i may get three different answers :)

Any help and suggestions appreciated.
