The most elegant chain, and I believe not requiring motherboard
modifications (using an interposer on a ROM 01, and a PLCC in-circuit
test clip on a ROM 3,) would be IIGS -> circuit to translate what the
VGC is putting out to TMDS -> LCD (which goes from TMDS to FPDLink
internally.)

However, I believe if you do that, the dithering doesn't work
(although it doesn't fail miserably like the VGA converters, it just
looks like how it looks on an emulator) so you need to do some
processing between the VGC and the TMDS transceiver to manipulate the
image such that dithering is achieved without hurting image quality
too much.
