Not totally correct, Nate.  Apple did sell packaged versions of GS/OS
that included manuals.  As always, these manuals were excellent and
many people opted for the full package (System 6 and 6.0.1 were about
$30).  Apple manuals are always a pleasure to read, even if the company
makes poor business decisions.
